NRC Sponsoring Worksop on Spatial Analysis and Decision Assisitance(SADA)

Folks,

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research is sponsoring a workshop on the "Review and Status of Surface and Volumetric Survey Design and Analysis Using Spatial Analysis and Decision Assistance (SADA) Methods." The workshop will be May 4-5, 2004, at NRC headquarters in Rockville, Maryland. However, at this time, NRC NEEDS MORE ATTENDEES, or the workshop may not be held. The workshop is free, but you must register.

If you are or expect to be involved in quantifying small concentrations of volumetric contamination, this workshop will provide an opportunity to be exposed to advanced techniques that will assist in site evaluations. The techniques discussed are applicable to any volumetric measurement and analytical scenario. These may include; the licence termination process (LTP), materials clearance, soil or rubble evaluation, etc.

The Multi-Agency Site and Survey Manual (MARSSIM) does not, as yet, discuss subsurface contamination. The material being presented during the two day workshop will be presented in such a manner that if you are somewhat familiar with MARSSIM, the transition from 2D surveys, through 2 ½ D surveys, to 3D surveys should be fairly straight forward. However, there are still many unresolved technical and regulatory issues.

This will be the only time for at least a year that this group of presenters will be available to answer questions, as time becomes available.

For registration and more information on the workshop pleas see the following web site:
