CmBe neutron source available - anyone interested?

Greetings RADSAFE members, A colleague at my facility has a Cm-Be neutron source (Curium-244) that needs to leave our facility. Nothing really wrong with source......facility will soon start D&D phase. The source is beginning a pathway to waste unless someone has an immediate need for the neutron source. In the grand tradition of health physics professionals, I was hoping that you could check with your respective facilities and contacts to see if anyone could use the source. It would be a shame to see it go off to waste, but time is short. Please reply with interest no later than June 1, 2004. It's a healthy strength source. measured at one meter. neutron approximately 220 mrem/hr (of if you prefer 2.2 mSv/hr). beta/gamma approximately 20 mR/hr. CmBe neutrons have an average energy of ~ 5 Mev. More details are available and shipping arrangements can be worked out. If interested, please call or email. If not, please pass along to someone at your facility who may be interested. =Greg jones88@llnl.gov ____________________________________________ Greg Jones, CHP phone: 925/423-9875 Health Physicist pager: 925/423-7705 # 01069 7000 East Ave L-378 email: jones88 @llnl.gov Livermore, CA 94550 ************************************************************************ You are currently subscribed to the Radsafe mailing list.
