Re: Fire, spill putting DOE in hot seat



More info on the Sr-90 contamination of roadways:  the most radioactive 

spot found was 30,000 dpm fixed contamination.  They found up to 120,000 

dpm on the truck and gravel at the unloading point.  These quantities 

are above free release levels.  The asphalt in question was cut out of 

the road surface and disposed of as LLW.



Over-reaction?  You tell me.  Anyway, it was quite a PR disaster for 

DOE, its contractor, and their subcontractor.  The state and emergency 

responders performed admirably.
