Vanderbilt Environmental Health and Safety (VEHS) department has an

immediate opening for a Senior Health Physicist to support clinical and

research uses of radiation for Vanderbilt University.  This includes:

managing the X-ray machine inspection program, providing health physics

support to Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Oncology, managing the

personnel monitoring and ALARA programs, providing health physics

support for clinical research, and managing the radiation safety

training program.  Due to the requirements of the Tennessee Department

of Environment and Conservation, the Division of Radiological Health,

the successful candidate must either be a Certified Registered X-ray

Inspector in the State of Tennessee or become certified within 90 days

of hire. 



Minimum qualifications are a B.S. degree in physics, health physics,

nuclear engineering, or environmental engineering and five years of

professional health physics experience at a large medical center and

research facility with a broadscope radioactive material license.  



Certification by the American Board of Health Physics or the American

Board of Radiology is strongly preferred.  The successful candidate must

also have competence in writing, oral presentations, and project

management.  Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are

required.  This position offers a competitive salary ($45,801-$75,171)

and a full benefits package.
