Andy's description of the water sounded like it was processed reactor

coolant, which is very pure but the tritium concentration was probably in

the E-04 microcurie/ml range.  Therefore, he probably was getting some dose

- which he preferred to the "bad Navy coffee".

I do not know why he made that "flippant" statement. 



What he was talking about is the make-up deionizied



water that would be added to the core.  It did sound



like he was drinking reactor coolant water.
