> Betreff: CAN CHEMICAL ENVIRONMENT AFFECT NUCLEAR PROPERTIES?

-----------------------------------------

I remember from my very first encounter with radiochemistry through

Prof. Engelbert Broda at the University or Vienna (more than 40 years

ago) and the "bible" of Friedlander-Kennedy, which I purchased in spite

of my then chronical lack of money, that there was a proof of changing

the half-life of radionuclides depending on the chemical composition.

This was - as it was mentioned in the citation - by electron capture of

the nuclide. Unfortunately I do not have this book at hand because of my

retirement which still leaves most of my books in cardboard boxes.

So this is nothing new!

Franz
