Some have avoided corrections from uGy/hr to uSv/hr by changing from the old 

NaI detector units to those with plastic scintillators which provide a "tissue 

equivalent" response.  NE/Bicron, which may now be Eberline, has a nice 

tissue equivalent unit called the Micro Rem.  I haven't seen any coversions from 

NaI response to tissue equivalence, but you know the energy absorption cross 

section certainly isn't the same for NaI or tissue/plastic scintillators.
