Analogies for non technical audience

I have been asked to dig up some simple (and I stress simple) analogies for

explaining what a

microgram is, what the measurement of microgram per metres cubed is, and

how to relate ppm, all in reference to uranium powder.

For example one analogy was 1 microgram of uranium is like a postage stamp

in the middle of Texas. Another one was that a ppm is like a grain of sand

in a truck load. I realize that there are many many factors that are not

included in the analogy (like the size of the truck for just one), but we

are only giving 10 minute information sessions that we want to keep simple

and easy to understand.

Please respond off list as I don't imagine there are too many people

interested in this type of simplicity.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
