One factor that needs to be considered is that some
patients receive several CT scans in a short period of
time. While the majority of emergency room patients
may only get one CT scan, patients admitted, or
through follow-up studies may get two, three or more
scans. There is no doubt that CT scanning has medical
benefits, however, it can be overused as a tool.
As for the issue of 2500 deaths from radiation
exposures, I would find that to a calculated value
with little credible value.
