Subject: RFA: US Centers for Medical Countermeasures

Against Radiation

This RFA invites applications to establish Centers for

Medical

Countermeasures Against Radiation (CMCR). The primary

goal of the Centers will be to develop

new medical products that will protect against,

mitigate the effects of, and

treat the short- and long-term consequences of

radiation exposure due to

terrorist attack. NIAID intends to commit

approximately $28 million in Fiscal Year

2005 to fund six to eight CMCRs as cooperative (U19)

agreements.
