RE: Article on Edward Teller

Any book with the title, "Edward Teller: the real Dr. Strangelove", has an obvious agenda included, one that is probably not worth $29.95.

Teller was a Hungarian Jew, educated in Germany, who left his faculty position at the University of Göttingen with the rise of the Nazis, came to the United States, and had an important role in the Manhattan Project, as well as promoting the development of the "H-bomb" (see http://www.physicstoday.org/vol-57/iss-8/p51.html)

The titled character in Kubrick's 1964 film, "Dr. Strangelove", was portrayed by Peter Sellers and based on former German Nazi rocket scientist, Dr. Wernher Von Braun. The film's other characters also parodied well-known personalities of that day - President Merkin Muffley was a parody on Adlai Stevenson, twice-losing presidential candidate, and Gen. 'Buck' Turgidson was a take-off on Gen. Curtis LeMay, 'father' of the Strategic Air Command.
