Re: On the topic of consent forms....

Michael,

This is very interesting. What are the levels of radiation out there that

require a consent form?

As you may recall that I reported on RadSafe two years ago, that I made a trip

up the Snake River Valley with an Aware RM-70 logging to an HP-100LX palmtop

after someone who was a Montana native told me, "I wouldn't make that trip

without a Geiger Counter." I was most disappointed that the highest level of

radiation was in Butte Montana at the lip of the abandoned open pit mine--and

it was about 2.5 times the background of Los Angeles. There was one other minor

hot spot.

It was not lost on me that the two ADs that Google inserted were radmeters4U.com

and nukepills.com

While I realize that there were some fires and some serious high-level work

there, I wonder about McKinley's motivation in making the statements he did.

"Protect the public" by signing a waiver? Protect from what. Why are there

never any concrete numbers in these articles?

Rumor...innuendo...fear...FUD! Why is my home country so intent on scaring the

population? I am quite enjoying the calming effect of having moved to my wife's

hometown of Aurora, Ontario.

Here, so far, our biggest concern has been homes built in the 10+mG region and

well within the fall zone of high-tension power lines. At that level, CRT

monitors shake. Forget the health effects: the CRT and aesthetic of living next

to the towers is the most annoying. We wouldn't buy a place there.

Cheers,

Richard
