I find Ms. Gosen's questions about this issue unsettling. Her questions
indicate that she may not have the appropriate knowledge of or background
in the regulatory, licensing, and safety aspects of the device or process
her company uses or intends to use that involves Kr-85.
As recommended in an earlier post, Ms. Gosen or her company should hire a
health physicist, radiation safety specialist, qualified expert,
industrial hygienist, or consultant who is appropriately qualified to
perform a proper hazard/risk analysis and make the appropriate
recommendations regarding the hazards/risks, regulatory, licensing, and
safety aspects of the device or process incorporating Kr-85.
This is not intended to be disrespectful of Ms. Gosen or her questioning.
I am concerned that she may be someone who has been assigned a task or
responsibility that may be beyond her current level of education,
training, or competency in radiation safety to properly carry out that
task or responsibility.

[ RadSafe ] radsafe, reportable amount
Hello again,
Thanks for the help with my Krypton 85 question. I was wondering if
anyone knows at how many curies of release I need to report that
release. In other words, in case of an accidental release, at how many
curies do I need to report the amount released to the department of
health services or any other agency. Is this specified in title 17 or
any other regulation? I am in California.
Thank you
Dora Gosen
