[ RadSafe ] Portal monitors to detect SNM

The Department of Homeland Security has installed about 400 portal 
monitors, mostly at seaports, to detect smuggling of HEU, plutonium and 
fission products that could be used for dirty bombs. I gather that there 
are differing assessments of how effective these monitors are. Has anyone 
on this list taken a look at this technology?
