--NINE EXIT SIGNS WERE REPORTED MISSING FROM A WAL-MART UNDER CONSTRUCTION
in Tucson, Ariz., state regulators told NRC in a Feb. 22 event notification
report posted today on NRC's Web site. The Arizona Radiation Regulatory
Agency said it is investigating the situation and had planned to notify the
FBI. Each sign contains about 11.5 curies of tritium, so as much as 103.5
curies of tritium are unaccounted for, the state agency said. Also, an exit
sign was found damaged inside the partially constructed building. Local
authorities believe the sources were taken sometime between Friday night and
Monday morning.
