[ RadSafe ] BEIR-VII, radiophobia

These very moments, we in Germany reap another of the numerous fruits of LNT-fuelled radiophobia.

Would-be chancellor Angelika Merkel almost could not make it to the venue of a party meeting in being blockaded by Greenpeace activists in the devious 'peaceable' aggressiveness typical for self-proclaimed saviours of all persuasions. With their slogan

"CDU: Kein Rückfall ins Atomzeitalter! (No backslide into the atomic age)"

they wish to rekindle public resistance against even the most weakish intentions to prolong the operational life of nuclear power plants beyond their presently decreed 'burial' date in 2020.

Of course, the BEIR-VII press release is utterly innocent regarding any anxieties the common citizen might embrace when reading that any amount of radiation no matter how small is KNOWN(!) to bear a finite threat to kill him by cancer. At least the committee's expert on 'risk communication' might have known that even a minor propagandist will have no problems whatsoever to obliterate from the public memory any careful caveat by which BEIR-VII might have buffered the impact of this release - if in fact such a caveat had been voiced.

Regards, Rainer
