[ RadSafe ] Review faults Sandia risk assessments

I have been involved in doing hazards assessments for emergency
management at Sandia in the past. I am looking into the source of these
comments, but until I know the context, it is difficult to know what, if
any, problems actually exist with the current assessments - or if in
fact those are even the documents being referenced.

I can say that all personnel on Kirtland Airforce Base (including active
duty military and their families and contractors) who are not DOE
employees or contracted to DOE (such as Sandia Labs employees and our
subcontractors) are considered members of the public, and they are
treated as such for dose estimates from routine operations and for the
purpose of emergency classification.

When I find out more, I'll provide more details. I'm sure that if a
problem exists, it lies buried in the depths and details of the
document.

Unless they are occupational workers, aren't they members of the public?
The workers are, of course, badged and their exposure is monitored. In
fact, there has not been any significant raiation expusure from the
pulsed power system. Also, yes, I am a member of the public, I know the
system is there, I eat occasionally at the golf course restaurant, and I
am not concerned. It wasn't the people who owrk on the base who
initiated ny complaint.
