When I was in the Navy we had similar problems. In one case we used someone who had just had a Nuclear Medicne procedure doen to simulate a contaminated injured man. Normally the hospital on base on half hearted played at the drills. I guess they really kicked it into high gear when they got real counts off the "victim". Another time involved an individual who had poor aim and a urinal. One of the ELTs thought it would be interesting to see how hot the urine was so he too a swipe. It was very hot, unfortunately the capitan walked by when we were counting the swipe. He thought it was interesting also, but he then told us to prove it hadn't come from his reactor. Had to take the sample clear across base to analyze with to do a gamma spec. In the meantime 1 of three urinals for 110 men was roped off as contaminated. Policy after that was you couldn't come back to the boat for 3 days after a nuc med procedure.
