Monica,

Whom to blame for this disgusting situation, when someone who underwent
a nuclear medicine treatment has to risk to be handcuffed and forced
into the back of a squad car, and to be treated like a criminal? I
wonder how long it took to release him or her. DHS should not only
deliver some instruments (this fact has of course been stated
prominently in the original posting) but also train those people who are
supposed to use the instruments. Otherwise forget about the instruments.
It seems that the "fight against terrorism" has run out of any
proportion and control. I just wonder how much it did cost to direct 20
police cars to the place and to have a helicopter circling the place
(what for?). I suppose that this was declared officially as a "test
run".  

This does not only apply to this regrettable incident, but taking
tourists at major airports randomly out of the queue, keep them for
hours at separate rooms without any explanation, interrogating them as
if they were criminals and then after a few hours releasing them without
even a word of explanation, excuse or regret seems to become more
common. This happened to Austrian friends, who are genuine Austrian,
therefore do not look like Arabs, had no grenades in their luggage and
not any political connection to whatever group - they just wanted to
spend their holidays in the USA and thereby support the weak US economy
with our Euros.  

I hope that there will be a return to normality - but how long will it
take? Hopefully not more than four more years.
