       Howdy radsafers,
(And greetings to the new Radsafe Moderator --- Many Thanks).

             Hi Franz,

I don't know much about specifics of the Yucca Mountain
storage facility. However, when I was doing groundwater
modelling
in New Jersey (USA) for a Low Level Radioactive Waste Facility, I
found Kd values for the following radionuclides caused these
radionuclides to transport (in groundwater) at rates close to the
             groundwater itself: Tritium, C-14, Tc-99, I-129 and Np-237.
There may be other radionuclides that move at rates similar to
that
of groundwater--- I think I got the Kd values at the time from
an
             EPA computer code Presto.

Kd values are described in the groundwater book by Freeze
and
Cherry and possibly in the book by de Marsily. I don't recall
New
Jersey Low Level Radioactive Waste containing much Neptunium.
"Official" Kd values can probably be found in the scientific
literature,
although I didn't have much access to the literature at that
time.

                  Yucca Yucca Yucca........

                  Regards, Joseph R. (Joe)
