This for those of you who knew Jake. Sorry the notice is a little late.
He passed on 3/9/2005. Among his other accomplishments, Jake was the
first RSO at the University of Louisville.
 
JACOBSON, AHREN, 83, of Louisville, died Wednesday. He was a graduate
of City College of New York (NY) and Brooklyn (NY) Polytech and a
retired professor of radiation physics at the University of Louisville.
He was a member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine
and a member of the board of directors from 1974-1975. He also was a
member of the Health Physics Society and president of its Bluegrass
Chapter from 1981-1982 and 1985-1986. He was also a member of the
Kentucky Association of Science Educators and Skeptics. He was appointed
to the Maxey Flats Advisory Task Force and Commission of Kentucky. He
was a World War II veteran and a recipient of the Combat Infantrymen's
Badge. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Norman Jacobson; sons,
Leonard of Seattle, WA, and Daniel of San Diego, CA; daughters, Naomi
Iaccarino of Benicia, CA, Ruth Shure of Glendale, CA, and Mary Jacobson
of Burbank, CA; brother, Samuel Jacobson of Ellicott City, MD; and
sisters, Yvonne Feldman of Mesa, AZ, and Edith Lama of Lowell, MA. In
lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the American Heart
Association or to the Patton Museum (Fort Knox, KY).
