Google is fully capable of screwing things up on their own.  The are forever 
changing how their robots rank pages, and the results are not always 
pleasing to website owners.  What they really want you to do is pay them 
money for a better placement.  It is just good old capitalism; nothing 
sinister at work here.  Relax.
