Re: Neut Q Factor
In Britain, the British Council for Radiation Protection has reviewed
the work suggesting that the neutron quality factors be increased.
The BCRP's recommendation was that the evidence was NOT firm and that
the present (ICRP 21) QFs were acceptable within the accuracy of the
present knowledge.
Approved Dosimetry Services have been instructed by the Health and
Safety Executive to continue using ICRP 21.
It is interesting to note that the british legislation does not specify
which QFs should be used. This will be probably change soon when a new
European Directive will force the British HSE to modify or replace the
present Ionising Radiations Regulations, 1985
