Xenon Dose & New 10CFR20
I have not been able to clearly understand what if any dose records
must be kept on Xe-133 exposure in nuclear medicine. An example of
how to modify the DAC is given in the new Appendix X, but nothing
is said about the dose. The new DAC is 10 times larger than the
old MPC and one assumes that the beta skin dose limit of 50 rem/yr
is the limiting factor (this is not stated anywhere that I know
of). If this is the case, and one uses engineering parameters to
assess exposure, must one enter a skin dose for the staff routinely
involved with this procedure?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
