Re: LIQUID WASTE DISPOSAL

Andres: We treat our liquid waste very similar. We do not allow the
investigators to pour their own waste in order to keep better data for
what is actually being disposed. We decay the shorter half-lives. We have
never come close to our annual limit for drain disposal based on the volume
of water in the University system. Bulk organic liquids, of course, are
disposed by a vendor.
One question- have you ever received liquids that were not within allowable
pH limits? Do you test the pH- or trust investigators to have treated
if required? We have asked ourselves of the need to test the pH as we
receive the carboys.
( We have had an increase in the number of carboys received and it has
been challenging to find room for all the liquids decaying.)
