Fiber Optic requirements

The University has just completed the connections of a LED fiber optic system.
The question has been asked if   the radiation safety office needs to
provide any safety guidance.  After reviewing ANSI Z136.2,it appears that
labeling the connector ends is necessary.  The manufacturer of the lines
 was contacted, but told us they would not divulge power outputs, and that they
 have never been questioned about the ANSI standard before.

Any ideas about what should be required?   David Sliney- any thoughts?
