Immunosurpressed patients can be "attacked" by the immune system of the transfused blood. Irradiation immunosurpresses the blood and makes it safer to give to the patient. Just my confused understanding. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Dale Boyce dale@radpro.uchicago.edu
