I-125 Effluent Monitoring
Does anyone out there presently demonstrate compliance with the 10CFR20
3E-10 uCi/ml I-125 air effluent concentration limit without using (1)
air sampling or (2) charcoal filtration? If so how?
There was a CRSO paper given by John Eichling of the Washington University
School of Medicine in 1983 that had data on the volatized fraction of I-125
during typical iodination procedures. These data were revised in 1986.
Does anyone have any "new" data in this regard? The Eichling data did not
suggest that they were employing the use of "gas-capture" activated charcoal
syringes. By what factor do these syringes attenuate the fraction of
volatile I-125 released in the hood?
