Job Description: Responsible for the administration of the LB of the
DLRS.  Supervises and is responsible for the licensing of persons
that receive, acquire, possess, use or transfer radioactive material
under the TDH's jurisdiction.  Manages three programs within the LB:
Medical & Academic Licensing (hi); Special Projects Licensing; and
Industrial Licensing.  Supervises technical staff preparing licensing
documents and associated correspondence.  Provides supervision and
guidance to the program managers and one secretary and indirect
supervision to the other technical and clerical staff in the Branch.
Provides guidance to applicants and licensees concerning appropriate
state laws and regulatory licensing policies and procedures, and
standards of health physics practices.  Makes presentations to groups
about radiation protection and TDH functions.  Provides input to
rules and guides.  Responds to radiological emergencies and drill as
member of the emergency response team.

Primary Review Elements: Bachelor's degree plus 6 full-time years
experience directly related to radiological health functions or
health physics, 2 years of which include supervisry experience.

Special Instructions or Remarks:  This position may involve work at
other than normal work hours.  Inudviual in position may be exposed
to ionizing and/or non-ionizing radiation during the course of their
work.  Must provide transportation.  Prefer extensive experience
involving radiological health functions relating to various uses of
radioactive material.  Supervisory experience preferred.
