RE: Mammography Doses

For myself, I am surprised that some of you have had problems getting
Entrance Skin Exposures (ESEs) from your Radiology Techs. When I was
working as an HP tech at Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Georgia, we
conducted tests annually to determine the ESEs from all of our diagnostic
systems, with both manual and phototimed techniques, to include mammo-
graphy. Entrance exposures for each procedure, calculated for each room,
were posted and available to all technologists and physicians. All of this
was done in our belief that it was required by the JCAHO.

Perhaps, those of you who rely on outside support for rad safety matters
should begin demanding more from your contract HPs.
