RE: gas proportional counters?
Melissa:
I used to work with a Tennelec gas flow proportional counter that was very
reliable over a long time. It was well shielded to produce a low background,
had a pretty good efficiency, and had a sample changer that worked very well
for wipes (which I presume is your main application). They also had it
interfaced to an Apple IIE as a data logger/report generator. As I recall,
Tennelec no longer exists, but I think another Knoxville company produces this
product. I believe that Bob Milwicz at Princeton (609-258-5294) could tell you
more about the counter and whether/where it is available.
