NORM in the oil field
Apparently the Corps of Engineers began a program in 1972 that required
petroleum companies to submit samples of "produced waters" discharged to
navigable waters. Samples were analyzed for various constituents including
NORM concentrations. Authority of the program was the 1898 Refuse Act.
-- Can't anyone confirm the existence of the program?
-- How did the Corps use the information?
-- How and where was the data stored?
-- Was data shared among governmental agencies?
-- Was data published?
-- Other?
