What harmful effects of EM radiation from computer monitors!!
The ILO Occupational Safety and Health Series No. 70 is a good reference on
this subject. It uses data and results from various studies related to VDUs
only. It does not attempt to extrapolate from data obtained in other
situations. Given the limited knowledge of the mechanisms by which EM fields
too "weak" to produce thermal effects may cause health effects in an exposed
individual, conclusions drawn from such extrapolations are very tenuous.
Anyway, ILO OS&HS 70 basically says that deleterious health effects of EM
radiation from VDUs have not been demonstrated as a whole by the literature.
Now to Pearl Wisdom's claim that their product can offer relief from these
harmful effects. They may be able to shield the electric fields originating
from the VDU by way of a grounded conducting screen (a fine steel mesh would
probably do the trick) but they would not be able to effect the magnetic
fields unless their screen was made of some exotic material such as mu-metal
(I think that is what it is called).
I think Pearl Wisdom is a fecetious misnomer attempting to rip off
susceptible (pun intended!) individuals.
I'm not flaming you Bruce, I'm having a go at Pearl Wisdom and other Snake
Oil salesmen who just happen to be my pet hate.
