RE: HPS HomePage

Marvin, I'm thrilled to see that you are on-line. But I think you are being
a little defensive. If you put my response in context with the posting to
which it was responding, I believe that you will see that it was not
negative at all. In fact, it was a call to arms, embracing change and an
optimistic view of the future.

With regard to your ending remark (see below),

"Sending messages out on the internet that we don't do anything for our
members is being part of the
problem."

you are wrong! Open and frank discussions are what our society, and any
organization, need the most. They are indeed part of the solution, and the
internet is the best place for them. If my remarks are without substance, my
ramblings will quickly be refutted by an outslaught of e-mail putting me
straight. Whatever the case, a meaningful and frank discussion by our
membership will be the deciding factor. Democracy in action!

Regards, Jeff

Dear Radsafers:
Give me a break! I promised when elected that I would get us into the
appropriate level of cyberspace. As this mail is showing, we are on it,
even though not as fast as some of you wish. You have my promise that I
will do all I can to see to it that HPS is "on-line" before I leave office.

As to whether we are "too frugal" and not doing anything for our members,
there may be more than one view on that. If you have a specific problem,
share it with me and I'll try to be helpful. I was elected to be part of
the solution, not part of the problem. Sending messages out on the
internet that we don't do anything for our members is being part of the
problem. Let's get positive, we have some challenging times ahead!

President, Health Physics Society
