All good ideas from Paul.  An alternative to the Cs-Ba generator
is to dissolve some uranium in HCl.  20 to 50 mg as U3O8 is
a good amount. Add 20 mg of TiO2 heat and swirl to suspend the TiO2.
The TiO2 won't dissolve.  Filter on a millipore with GF/A or
acid resistant paper filter pad.  The 1.2 minute Pa234 will
stick to the TiO2.  Remove the pad carefully but quickly and
place it on a planchet. Cover with tape or stick it down on
double sided tape and cover with mylar, saran, etc.  With
the 1.2 minute half life your ear can detect the rate of change
of the decay on the speaker of a survey instrument.
