RE: CHP Name Tags

Pet peeve time! Is anyone (besides me) tired of hearing them referred to
as "swipes"? They're not "swipes". Look it up in the dictionary (at
least it's not in mine). They are "wipes" or "smears" or "pads used for
contamination sampling", or something similar. I think the term
originated within the military, specifically the Navy, bec they use that
term almost exclusively. Anyone know where it came from (Paul)?
