Re: SI units

Joel --

Great proposal for a replacement topic for CHP designation on badges. I
commend you, and will jump into the fray. Allen Brodsky, my close friend,
teacher, and mentor, does make some good points, but I respectfully
disagree with him, even if only for the sake of airing the question. And,
much as I dislike the SI, there are some cogent reasons for the change.
If for no other reason, we need to maintain consistency with the rest of
the world through use of this commonly accepted system of units, which has
a physical basis. Also, I believe the US did sign a treaty, but that
doesn't mean we can't do as we please within our borders.

I'm writing this late at night to give me time to get to my fallout
shelter (remember those?)
