Re: Transportation accidents?

Hey RadSafe People and specifically J. Ellsworth

I may be duplicating info you already have but, it may also be useful
to other netters as well;

the hazardous materials information exchange (HMIX) is provided by
the US Department of Transporation and can be accessed via computer
at (708) 972-3275 (commercial) or (708) 252-3275 (fts)
If you need technical assistance in reaching HMIX call 1-800-752-6367
and they can tell you how to access the system.
The exchange covers all hazardous materials including readioactive ones.
A part of the system is devoted to transport regulations, specific
response guidelines and is a way to connect with other transport
and resposne officials throughout the nation.

The office of Hazardous Materials Technology-Division of Radioactive
Materials has been very helpful to me and if they don't have the
information you need, they will point you in the right direction.
They can also send you guides and brochures on the HMIX system.
The RADMAterial division's phone number in Washington DC is
(202) 366-4545. The HAZMAT transport division is (202) 366-2159

or call Pamela Diedrich at the US DOT at (202) 366-2159.

If you have more specific questions email me at the address below,
and I can fax you a copy of the organizational chart they gave me
from DOT.

Hope this helps everyone.
