Description:  Non-tenure track, twelve month position for a faculty member
in the Health Physics Program, Department of Physics.  This is a special, 
contract-funded position which supports the radiological oversight program 
of the State of Idaho.  A four-year contract is in place and renewal is anticipated.
The position is located in Idaho Falls, Idaho, 50 miles from the University.  
The successful candidate will participate in evaluating impacts of present and 
future operations of the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory (INEL) on the
population and environment.  He/she will also be expected to perform occasional 
teaching duties in the Idaho State University Health Physics Program and may 
direct student summer internships or student research and be involved 
in graduate student committees.
     The basic position requirement is an earned doctorate in Health Physics, 
or a closely related discipline and at least ten years of relevant experience.  
An exceptionally well-qualified candidate with a master's degree could be 
considered.   Preferred experience includes transportation regulation and risk 
assessment, NRC regulation, State radiation regulation, and environmental 
surveillance.  Certification or eligibility for certification by the American Board 
of Health Physics is desirable.  The appointment will be made at an appropriate 
academic rank, depending upon qualifications.  Salary for the twelve-month
appointment is negotiable.
