     For NVLAP all category III irradiations are performed using an x-ray 
     machine. Am-241 is not used for any irradiations. I am not familiar 
     with the DOELAP irradiations and can no comment on that, other than to 
     state that I would expect an x-ray machine would also be used for 
     those irradiations.

PNL uses Am-241 to deliver dose for the Category IIIB Low-Energy Photons (X
Ray) - Plutonium Environments.  This source is used for the Monoenergetic 55
to 65 keV.

Listed in the Department of Energy Standard for the Performance Testing of
Personnel Dosimetry Systems (DOE/EH-0027) are C_x factors for each of the
DOELAP sources.  Here is one for X-Ray techniques designed to be at the same
energy.
