If the measurements in question were made using RDCs LiF capsules, the
mrads silicon were calculated by converting the dose from rads air to
rads silicon using the ratio of the mu en/rho for air and silicon at the
energy in question.  Big assumption was that the energy was known.  They
did this because Lockheed was supposedly looking at damage to ICs, so
the rads silicon concept was born.  Note that the difference is
significant only at lower energies.  Contact me directly if you want
