Description:  Entry Level Health Physicist to assist in the development and 
implementation of a comprehensive radiation safety program for a large 
research-based university campus which includes 250 radionuclide 
laboratories, a 10 KW research reactor, a 10 MeV linear accelerator, and 40 
analytic and diagnostic x-ray devices.  Responsibilities include performing 
laboratory contamination and safety surveys; providing training for new 
radioactive material users; collection, processing, and disposal of 
radioactive waste; and development and maintenance of computer applications 
for radiation safety program.  Candidate will also participate as a member 
of the State of Iowa s Radiological Emergency Response Team.

Position requires: B.S. degree in physical or biological science with a 
strong background in chemistry, physics, biology and calculus; one year 
experience in radiation safety operations (preferably in a university 
research setting) or applicable work; strong computer skills, specifically 
with relational databases and application development; and valid driver s 
license with CDL endorsement or the ability to obtain a CDL.  Candidate must 
demonstrate strong interpersonal, training, oral and written communications 
skills.

Qualified candidates should submit resume and cover letter outlining 
education and experience along with a list of three references.  Review will 
begin on October 13, 1995, and continue until position is filled.  Salary is 
commensurate with background, education, and experience.
