RSO Position at the University of Rochester





The University of Rochester, Rochester, New York is seeking to fill the 
position of Radiation Safety Officer in mid-May, 1996.

The University of Rochester, a nationally recognized graduate/undergraduate 
research university which includes Strong Memorial Hospital and the School 
of Medicine and Dentistry, holds the largest broad radioactive materials 
license in the state outside of New York City.  The University uses 
radioisotopes as well as x-ray generating equipment for theraputic and 
diagnostic medicine and for research. The University also houses a major 
fusion facility.  The RSO will have responsibility for oversight of all 
activities involving ionizing radiation.

The RSO will supervise a staff of one health physicist and three 
technicians.  The teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses is possible 
with the appropriate credentials.

The successful candidate will have at least an MS and will be certified in 
health physics or medical physics.  A strong background in program 
management is required as is a detailed knowledge of appropriate regulations.
