ANS Electron-Photon Transport Sessions

Some of you may have interest in attending the two sessions (October 31)on
coupled electron and photon transport methods/applications at the Winter ANS
Meeting in San Francisco. One session was to be devoted entirely to the ITS
codes, but the program committee changed it somewhat. The papers are as
follow:

Photon and Electron Transport Methods and Applications I (8:30 am, Oct 31)
1. "Version 4.0 of ITS Electron/Photon Monte Carlo Transport Codes," John
     Hableib et al. (SNL)
2. "ITS -- Some Practical Advice," R. P. Kensek et al. (SNL)
3. "Parallelization of ITS on IBM SP2 Computer," G. D. Valdez (SNL)
4. "Physics of ETRAN and ITS Electron-Photon Monte Carlo Codes," S. M.
     Seltzer (NIST)
5. "Status of Electron Transport in MCNP," H. G. Hughes (LANL)
6. "Multigroup Boltzmann-Fokker-Planck Electron-Photon Transport Capatility
in MCNP," K. J. Adams et al. (LANL)
7. "Accurate, Easy Monte Carlo Simulation on Personal Computers," H. S.
     Miley (PNL)

Session II (1:00 pm, Oct. 31)
1. "Monte Carlo Simulation of Dose Distribution in Tubing Using the
Integrated TIGER Series," D. E. Weiss (3M) et. al (Raychem & SNL)
2. "Adjoint ITS Calculations Using the CEPXS Electron-Pnoton Cross Sections,
     " L. J. Lorence et al.(SNL)
3. "Spectral Characterization of a Flash X-Ray Diffraction Transmission
System," J. L. Champion (Johns Hopkins Univ) et al.
4. "Use of ITS to Develop a Methodology for Determining Mammographic X-Ray
Spectrum End-Point Energies," M. E. Napolitano et al. (Georgia Tech and
     Medical College of Georgia)
5. "Revised Gastrointestinal Tract Model for Calculation of Absorbed
     Energy," J. W. Poston, Jr. (ANL-Idaho) et al. (Texas A & M University,
     Univ. of Florida)
6. "Tissue-Equivalent Detector Photon Response Matrix," J. L. Lobdell (TVA)
     et al. (Georgia Tech)

Registration information is available from ANS Headquarters [(708) 352-6611].

I might also add to the discussion about ANS on the WWW by adding that the
Radiation Protection and Shielding Division has recently constructed a
homepage ---- http://epicws.epm.ornl.gov
