I had two responses from people with pool irradiators. One uses water analysis
as a back-up to in line monitoring of filters, the other was unspecified. Both
count large samples (500 ml to 1 liter) with Ge gamma spectroscopy systems for
fairly long times (on the order of 50,000 seconds) resulting in LLDs below 1
nanocurie per liter. Any activity in the appropriate region for the nuclide of
interest (Co-60) forces further investigation.
