RE Contamination Limits for Protective clothing
This message is for Sung-Jun Maeng
U.S.N.R.C. REgulatory Guide 8.23 "Radiation Safety Surveys for
Medical Institutions gives the following limits for Protective
Clothing worn only in Restricted Areas.
Alpha emitters 10E-6 uCi/cmE2 [that's microcuries per square centimeter]
Sorry about the units.
Beta or x-ray emitters 10E-5 & low risk betas 10E-4.
Low risk betas are those with energy < .2MeV
Low risk x-ray are those with <.1mR/hr @ 1 m & there is a reference also
to permissible concentrations in an out dated regulation
If you would respond to me at vernig.peter@forum.va.gov I can maybe
clarify things a little. Your email address did not come through with
your message so I can not respond directly and do not want to burden
others on Radsafe with a lengthy message.
