Radiation Control Physicist Vacancy



	The Bureau of Air Management's Monitoring and Radiation Division of the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection is seeking a Radiation Control Physicist who will be responsible for independently performing a full range of tasks in inspection surveys and complex field studies pertaining to the control of ionizing and non-ionizing radiations and radiological wastes.
	Candidates should have a knowledge of the principles of ionizing radiation and its measurement; technical knowledge of radiation detection instrumnets; ability to recognize, evaluate and control hazardous environmental contamination by ionizing radiation and radioactive substances and knowledge of State, Federal and interstate regulations and codes relating to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.
	Six (6) years' of general experience in the regonition, evaluation and/or control of potential occupational or environmental health hazards involving the use, manufacture, possession, transportation or disposal of sources of ionizing or non-ionizing or radioactive substances is required. A Bachelor's degree with emphasis in radiation physics, physical science, biological science or nuclear engineering may be substituted for up to a maximum of four years of general experience.  Current starting salary is $36,177 supplemented by a stipend of approximately $3,000 per year.
