Pu isotopic ratios
Consider a lake with purportedly high levels of plutonium in
sediment, several miles downstream from a putative point
source. Managers of the point source attribute the lake's plutonium to
global fall-out from Chinese weapons tests in the 1970's.
Can anyone suggest a few technical reviews I might read in order
to gain a better appreciation of the feasibililty of
using the ratios of plutonium and related isotopes as "fingerprints" in
order to apportion environmental contamination between global Chinese
testing fall-out and a local point source?
