I came across a paper recently that addressed exactly this topic -
"An Industry Survey of Current Lower Limits of Detection for Various
Radiounuclides" Health Physics 69(1):121-129; 1995
It dealt specifically with analysis in soil, and included dozens of
radiounuclides and several analysis techniques.
A general result is given in the abstract. It states "The minimum
detectable level for most isotopes using standard procedures was on the
order of 0.0037 to 0.037 Bq/g (0.1 to 1.0 pCi/g)."
Hope this helps.
