 One of the methods we have used for the press that was very effective was
 to use a 2" x 2" NaI detector to see the increased countrate when monitoring
 the reporter's heart.  (K-40)  Then have some comparison natural sources 
 available. (KCl salt substitute, Lantern Mantle, Fiestaware) People seem to 
 learn best from the hands on stuff, and they can do these things themselves. 
 Meters that click and flash also stay in the memory longer.
